For some reason, beyond belief, my father, who is Scrooge on every other holiday, LOVES Halloween. Strange, right?
When he found out that Maggie and Gretchen and most likely I were going to be out of town, he started to stress.
"Who is going to hand out the Halloween Candy?"
My mom suggested we just hand out Smarties. We are in a recession, right?
But my dad wasn't having it. He kept asking me all week, since he too was going to be out of town, if I was going to stay. I told him I didn't know.
Well, I'm here. In St. George. For HALLOWEEN. Handing out Candy.
I'm like seriously the BEST daughter ever.
So yesterday, before my mom left for Provo, we went to Costco, and stalked up on
FULL SIZE CANDY BARS.
Crazy, right? Guess the Smarties idea went right out the window.
So, dad I'm here for you.
Taking care of all the little kiddies who will come by and grab those Full Size bars like they haven't eaten in weeks.
That's how much I love you.

ReplyDeletethe glendennings can NOT hand out smarties... are you kidding me?? st. james is known for you handing out full sized bomb candy, and the rowlands handing out ice cream cones. You better believe we're bringing lincoln over to st. james for his first trick-or-treating experience...can't wait to see you handing out that delish candy!!! Thank you Doug...you never fail us.

ReplyDeleteHello...i remember the full size candy bars...you can't crush little kids' hopes of the FS bar, that's what they live for...I mean, I did anyway! I hope you still dressed up for the occasion!
