i can't even begin to tell you how excited i am about these two new movies i bought.
i wanted to see them while they were in theaters, but unfortunately,
they did not come to theaters here in st. george.
i've read about them. done my research about them.
and finally, they were released to dvd.
thank you barnes and noble.

these are the movies that i bought...

(nominated for an academy award for best costume design)

(a documentary on anna wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue)

check out the trailers that are on the websites.
i can't wait to watch them both...

rant on fashion...

i know that clothing/fashion isn't necessarily a big deal to some people,
but to me, IT IS.

but there is something about looking a people whose lives are involved immensely in the line of fashion
and i envy it
now, don't get me wrong, every thing revolves around clothing.
whether you like to admit it or not, fashion isn't something that we can't hide from.
no matter how hard you try, it consumes you...
don't get what i'm trying to say, then
take for instance this line from the movie,

''the devil wears prada''

miranda priestly: [Miranda and some assistants are deciding between two similar belts for an outfit. Andy sniggers because she thinks they look exactly the same] Something funny?
andy sachs: No, no, nothing. Y'know, it's just that both those belts look exactly the same to me. Y'know, I'm still learning about all this stuff.
miranda priestly: This... 'stuff'? Oh... ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar De La Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of 8 different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic casual corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of stuff.

despite what anyone says, if they absolutely HATE fashion
it is just like 'miranda priestly' said, that even if you don't care what you wear
you are still wearing something that some designer has made a trend,
and that the editor-in-chief of vogue has said it is OKAY to wear, then by the time is gets to us,
it has filtered down into some place where you or i like to shop.
i just don't get how someone can say it is unimportant.
you get dressed in the morning right?
you care how you look, right?
(if you don't, you should).
you want to feel pretty, sexy, carefree
and make it look like you just threw something one without even trying?
then if you feel all those things, you care about fashion.
so, sorry about my rant.
it may not even make sense, but i hope that someone catches the gist.
THE END...?

love...

in Glamour magazine this month, there was an article called,
50 little things every woman should know about love.
(according to different ladies around the country and glamour readers.)
so, i decided to enlighten all those "single" ladies about love.
(according to glamour, of course)
i'm not saying these are facts, but they are definitely something to think about...

  • if he says he isn't ready for a relationship, believe him
  • marry someone you want to sit next to for the rest of your life
  • don't trust anyone who doesn't laugh
  • the guys who were nerdy in high school make the best husbands
  • to love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance
  • you can tell a lot about a guy by how he treats a cab driver
  • if he likes you, you'll know. if he doesn't, you'll be confused
  • guys are like subway trains. don't run after them; another one is on its way
  • never marry a man who has no friends
  • never tattoo a guys name on your body
  • personal hygiene is part of the package
  • respect yourself. i'm not going to make you my everything if i'm only your something
10 movie lines to memorize for real life love...

"stop thinking about what everyone else wants. stop thinking about what I want...what your parents want. what do YOU want?"
-the notebook
"just because some cute girl [or guy] likes the same bizarro crap you do doesn't make her your soulmate."
-(500) days of summer
"you should be kissed often, and by someone who knows how."
-gone with the wind
"when the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as i know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate of revenge-they were all messages of love. if you look for it, i've got a sneaking suspicion...love actually is all around."
-love actually
"she's got gaps; I got gaps. together we fill gaps."
-rocky
"the past can hurt...you can either run from it or learn from it."
-the lion king
