8 Seconds..

Last Thursday I attended the Strawberry Days Rodeo I always enjoy the Rodeo, even though everyone things, and well I am the NOT the "outdoorsy" type. I don't mind certain outdoors, but I do enjoy the Rodeo.
Now Strawberry days. What do I say? You had good strawberries but everything else lacked in comparison to the DIXIE ROUND-UP. I must say that the Lions Club really does put on a good show. And Randy the clown? What else could be better than his witty banter with the announcer? It is priceless. But the best part about the Dixie Round-Up is the company and the seats. Don't get me wrong, I loved who I went with, but we were sitting on metal bleachers. METAL BLEACHERS. For crying out loud, I bottom hurt so bad by the time we left, I was so happy it was over. The seats at the round up are larger and much more pleasant to sit on. I guess you can't beat the Sun Bowl. And then there's the company. I went with my roommates and friends, and it was great. We had a good time and enjoyed the show. But you can't beat FAMILY at the round-up. Even though we may not be "family" with everyone that goes, it is pretty dang close to it. It is always nice to know that Gretchen and Vivi and lots and lots of other people are waiting in line to get our traditional seats right off to the left of the cows, bulls and the announcer, taking up about 9 rows or something crazy like that. The Dixie Round-Up is an experience I think that everyone should experience. Good times, good food, good people. Life couldn't get any better...

3 MONTHS TILL THE DIXIE ROUND-UP...

Oh and Pictures will be coming soon....

Livin' Aloha... For a week at least

I've just returned from our lovely vacation in Hawaii.  And what a lovely trip it was.  I got to see a lot of my friends.  Mainly Kennedy.  She was there visiting both her sisters and I was so happy to see her.  We went to Waimea Beach and jumped of the Rock.  It was quite a good time.  We waited for Courtney to jump, and she took so long to jump.  When she did, she landed so hard on her bottom, she bruised her tailbone.  She was in pain for the rest of the trip.  Just like Courtney, to be hurt at the beginning of the trip.  But she survived.  Along with jumping of Waimea Rock, we went to Waimea Falls.  It was so fun.  We had never been there. I know, it is surprising that Dad had never been there. His second residency is Kaukuhu  The only person who had been there was my mom and she had been there with the "traveling team".  I'm just wondering, where can I sign up to be apart of the traveling team?

We sat out by the pool and the beach.  We soaked up the sun, and just baked.  We did this on behalf of Chelsi.  Who LOVED the sun.  I cooked in the sun and loved every minute of it.  We had a BBQ with my friends on Monday, and went into Honolulu on Wednesday.  Let's just say that our trip was pretty good.  I always enjoy going to Hawaii with my family and I love Hawaii.

My Dear friend Chelsi

I had a very interesting morning this morning of June 6, 2008. It has been the only day this week where I've gotten to sleep in, just a bit. I was planning on getting up at 9 am.

My phone rings and I see that it is my house calling. I screen the call and after it is done ringing I check the time. 7:30 am. Wow. I was shocked. I didn't know why my house was calling me so early. I assumed it was either one of my parents reminding me to bring something for our Hawaii trip this week. So I thought I would be okay with calling back when I got up later. 7 minutes later I get a phone call from a number I don't have saved in my phone. I also screen it, thinking how unusual it is that I've had 2 calls, 7 minutes apart. Then at 7:39 am, Tosha Stevenson called me. Now this was quite unsual. I hadn't talked to Tosh for a while now, and since she was now calling me at 7:39 in the morning, I thought maybe she dialed my number on accident. I laid back down, closed my eyes for a second, then they flew right back open again. I thought to myself, maybe something happened...

I hurried and called my mom back and she gave me the horrible news. Chelsi Petersen, my dear friend, neighbor, and practically almost sister was killed in an automobile accident in Provo Canyon at 1 am Friday morning. I'm in complete shock, and so obviously my first reaction, CRYING. I started crying and left my room to talk to my mom. What a downward spiral that was. I talked to Courtney, and my Mom and Tosha, and Kelsey and a few other people. I couldn't believe it. A person who I've grown up with, taken pictures in our matching bathing suits, and gone to Lake Powell with, and Snowboarding at Brian Head with is now not even alive anymore? I couldn't believe it. I still can't. It was horrible news. What misery and torture for her family. She was being delivered by my cousins from Spilsbury Mortuary around 11:30-Midnight, Friday night. What a horrible day, and quite possibly the longest day ever.

She was a lovely, wonderful, talented girl and I will miss her dearly. She has now safely returned to her Grandpa Shep and her Heavenly Father. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. I love them all so dearly.

Gardening the Beach House...

After about a month of living in the Beach House, we finally grew tired of the weeds that have been overtaking our lawn. So while I was at work on Tuesday, Katelin took action. She pulled all the weeds from under the tree and in the front of our tear drop and pretty much gutted it. When I got home from work, we decided to go buy some flowers. We arrived at Lowes and wanted lots and lots of flowers, but realized that spending $130 on flowers, when only the two of us would have been paying for it, wasn't quite worth it. We ended up with a bed of Red Petunias, some purple Loellea's (?) and this other really pretty blue flower. Well the purple and the blue, are just fillers, but regardless, they still look great. We planted under the tree, the Petunias and the fillers. What a world of difference a few pretty flowers will make. We planted from when we got back from Lowes around 7:30pm, and ended up working until we had no more sunlight, so about two hours. We pulled up some gnarly roots, and worked really hard. So hard in fact, that when we came in, our hands were FILTHY. But all that hard work paid off. Under our tree and our tear drop looks lovely...
