Spirit of Christmas

Christmas for me, has usually consisted of having the best jeans, or the latest and greatest handbag.
But this Christmas, I've been filled with the Spirit of Christ.
Helping this family has truly given me a whole new meaning of Christmas.
And everything else just seems so, unnecessary in comparison.
It is funny howe we can get caught up we get with all the "Commercialism of Christmas."
But what we really need is to get back to the basics...

Christmas 2009
So, my friend Kevin suggested this year, instead of giving gifts to each other we should put all that money together and give it to a family who needs it.
So we found a couple of families and went out shopping.

Tonight we delivered them.
And let me tell you, it was AMAZING.

I found this family by calling East Elementary
This family has 3 little girls and a boy cousin that lives with them.
The little girls are in 3rd grade, 1st grade, and the last will be in Kindergarden next year.
And the boy is in 5th grade.
Over the summer, they all got lice. So the mother stripped everything and they somehow got it again. She was so fed up with it, that she shaved all their heads.
So the little girls go to school wearing beanies.

We get to the house and Paul gets out of the car to find it exactly, while we park far away. He comes back and tells us that there is a fence and that it would be tricky to get out of there.
So the boys load up on the gifts and take them up to the door.
I see them ring the doorbell and see them scatter.
That is all I saw, I parked in the worst place with a huge pole right in my way.
I drive off, and get the information from Paul later, because he was hiding in the bushes.

He (Paul) said this,
"We dropped the stuff off, and the mom came to the door. She told the kids to go to their rooms, and she came back out SOBBING. She stood there speechless.
I wonder how she must have been feeling.
The stresses of not being able to provide your children with Christmas.

What an amazing experience this was for me.
It hit me when I got home, and telling my parents about it,
how lucky I am to come from such a fortunate family.
What strikes me is how I know that there are a lot of families,
especially now, who are struggling, but it isn't until I step outside of my world, and help someone who needs it that it is actually "REAL" and that people need my help.

I'm so grateful for this opportunity to serve another family who needs it.
And what better way to become more like Christ
by serving others who are in need.
Because after all...

HE
is the
REASON
for the SEASON
......

Listen,

I know I'm going to sound like a walking contradiction, but a friend of mind said (KODY)
"Nothing wrong with contradiction on occasion. minds change, things happen."

Guys are great when they want to be and
I can have so much fun with them,
but seriously, do I have a sign on my shirt, bag, or forehead that says...

"I only like boys that don't have to do any work in a friendship,
so please, if you're THAT guy, and want to TRY and build a friendship. Call me."

What is it about guys that makes them think that friendships are
built with the effort of just one person work?
And I've decided that since I've put in the effort
If guys want to see me, hang out with me, or
be associated with me at all
It's all on them.
Good luck...

Christmas 2009
is going to be
Wonderful...

(More deets to come)

12.04.2009

See this girl,
Her name is Tanier.

Her and I
Have been friends for a long time...
(13 years)

She is here.
While I'm stuck here...
I'm waiting for her to come back so we can go here....

She's "just" my Best Friend.

She's my Linda Lou and I'm her Teddy Sue
(That's our grandma's)
And I can't wait till she comes home.
So hurry up will you. These last six months have gone by so slowly/quickly.

Love you Taneer/Louie.

Alright,

As much as I complain about living in St. George (you know what I mean if you live here)
I have a great group of friends that I hang out with.
They are all so talented and amazing in their own special ways.

Take Katie and Julie and I.
We all three get along so well.
We laugh, cry (only because we laugh so hard),
talk for hours and all have the same interests.
I love them so much. They are great.

Then, there are the boys I hang out with.
Kyle, Kevin, Paul, Brandon,and Zach.
And, it also isn't TERRIBLE that they are all GREAT looking...

First Kevin and Paul are seriously two of the most talented
musicians I've ever heard.
When the two of them start playing
there is no stopping them. I'm in awe every time.
They are incredible.

Then there is Kyle and Zach.
They have great taste in music.
And they bring a smile to my face every time I see them.
They make me feel like I'm 18. Which for me, is great. Because I HATE my age...
(we'll keep my age a secret)

Then there is Brandon.
He is great. He is such a gentleman
and everyone says chivalry is dead?
He would drop anything to help me out.
I love Brandon

Don't get me wrong, all the boys are gentleman in their own way. I love all of them
These are just a few of my wonderful friends..

Here are more.
Great looking, funny, and nice. Does it get much better?
Lucky me.

11.29.2009

Linley's Blessing Day.
I have the most amazing family.
And the most beautiful too.
Okay, I'm biased.
Big deal.

11.28.2009

I know, I know

You've seen these before, but I had them re-highlighted.
More blonde, because I'm just a blonde kind of girl...
And I hope you're not thinking the "dumb blonde" kind either..

Me + Friends + John Mayer = New Years Eve 2009

What better way to ring in the New Year?

Don't read, if you haven't seen...

Okay, so it's been a week, and a post is probably NOT necessary, but what kind of UTAH blogger would I be if I DIDN'T comment on it? I'm sure you're all at the edge of your seat dying to know what I"m talking about...well if you can't figure it out then I guess I'll spell it out for you...

NEW MOON, duh.

I actually hate to admit that I saw it the day AFTER it came out,but sadly enough I did.
I live in St. George okay.
And don't think that since I saw it the SECOND day it was out, I'm some huge Twilight fan.
You would have read me all wrong.

Anyway, so I thought there were some definite pros and cons to the movie this time.

PROS:
Jacob looked good
Bella looked good
The special effects were MUCH better
(Like the running. Remember the first movie when he was running but only his legs were moving and his upper body was completely stiff? Makes me feel weird just talking about it.)
Charlie, the dad, is a BABE
The acting was COMPARATIVELY better then then first
The color was better
Bigger budget
New Director
The ENDING
Did I mention Jacob's body? UNFREAKINREAL

CONS:
The acting. TERRIBLE, but better then the first
Edward looked weird
Edward sounded weird, his voice was weird, when he actually talked or was on screen
Bella still BUGS me
I feel like she can't breathe right. Or she breathes too much
The acting was NOT good
It was two hours and ten minutes
Seeing it the second time is NOT recommended. It's two hours and ten minutes too LONG
The Gasp after Edward asks her to marry him, seriously? Longest pause and then and random GASP twenty minutes after (not really 20 minutes) was totally unbelievable. It should have been more instantaneous.

So can you tell that I was kind of LUKEWARM on NEW MOON?
I'll admit, I was kind of excited to see it.
Then I saw it, laughed at the cheesiness of it.
("Jacob, you're sort of BEAUTIFUL")
Seriously?
But then I went to it last night, Thanksgiving evening, and wanted to slit my wrists.
TOO LONG

Long enough rant...

11.23.2009

New Friend

It is weird how you can know someone for a long time, and never really actually know them.
Well for me, it was like that with Julie Holm.
I never really knew her, but I knew her because I was always friends with Melissa.
But I've been hanging out with Julie a lot recently, and I keep thinking
WHY was this friendship NOT formed a long long time ago.

Julie is seriously the funniest, cutest, and most amazing girl.
She's come so far, and I've learned a lot and am learning a lot from her.
She doesn't judge, and she's a great person to talk to.
I'm glad that we are friends.
I love her.

Bangs, Bangs, Bangs...

I've been debating for a while now whether or not I should get bangs. Courtney just got them, and I love them on her. They look great. But, just so I don't look like that "copy everything my sister does" kind of sister, I've been thinking about them, even before she got them. They are so cute. And I love how they look.
But there are so many things to take into consideration. Do you go a little more wispy? Or heavy? I don't know...

But I'm looking for honest opinions here people. What do you think? Would bangs suit my face? Or would it just make me look ridiculous.

Here are some ideas of bang styles I have in mind...

The Plasticine, the blonde girl's bangs...

Keira Knightly, heavy but wispy at the same time...

Or bangs like Sienna Millers, where I could part them in the middle.

Also, I have this friend Stacey. She has the cutest bangs too. I hope that she doesn't mind that I stole this picture from her blog. I'm such a creep. But I'll just go ahead and post this, and give credit to Nicole Carman for her great photography skills.

So please, help a girl out. I need some input...
Thanks.
