Heavy Lifting...?

Well much to my mother's dismay, I decided to carry out a six foot tall bookshelf ALL BY MYSELF today. If anyone knows what my house looks like, they will know how incredibly hard it is to get anything big out of the house.

I'm currently in the process of moving houses, and I've had lots of moving of boxes and etc... to our new house. I've been using Courtney and Darin's bookshelf that they bought when they first got married for the last nine months. I was so worried about getting it out of my room, that I was calling just about everyone I knew to help me. No one would answer, and I didn't have anyone to help me. I called Courtney, I don't really remember the exact question that I asked her and she told me to keep it in my room. Then Darin got on the phone and he told me that I could get it out of my house solo. He said it is only 15 lbs, and that I could drag it if I wanted. I was like well freak, if it is only 15 lbs,and I can drag it, I could have taken it out a long time ago. I get off the phone with him and start dragging. Then while I've made out of my bedroom, and to the door, my phone starts ringing. I run to answer it and it was my mother. I told her the situation and she told me to wait till my roommates get home then I can take if over to Darin's parent's house. I told her I would wait for my roommates to get home. However, she didn't know that the bookshelf was already to the door. Being the middle child, and always wanting to do something my parents tell me not to, I decided that I was just going to finish and NOT wait for one of my 8 roommates to get home. So I start dragging, and pulling and trying to get the bookshelf up the stairs. I see that when I get the bookshelf half way between the stairs and the outside, I was trying to figure out how to get it to my car. Being so smart, I decided to put the back end of my car towards the door. I opened the trunk of my car and realized that it wasn't going to fit, because I had already loaded my car with all my clothes. I set the bookshelf down and hurried and unloaded a few of my suitcases and got the bookshelf in my car.

I drive to the Orem house, and while on my way I contemplate asking someone to help me when I get to the house. But when I got there, there were some boys carrying couches into their house, so I knew they probably wouldn't help me. I unload the bookshelf and get it out when I realized that it is going to be quite the drag to get it into the garage. So I think to myself, I'm such an idiot, why don't I just drive my car into the garage and then it won't be as big as a drag to get it where I want it to go. So, I RELOADED the bookshelf and don't close the trunk of my car and hold onto it with my right had, and steer with my left hand. I finally unload this 6 foot tall bookshelf and drag it to is appropriate spot, shut my car and drive back to my house. RELIEF, but I'm going to have a very SORE body tomorrow. I do have bruises, and they are going to be huge.

The Tudors...

School is out and I finally have some free time to just hang out. However, I am getting rather bored of doing nothing all day. The positive side:I have started reading again. Enjoyable books, and not TEXTBOOKS, but ones that I have picked out myself to read. Obviously. Well I bought this book in August, because I thought it looked interesting. It is called the Boleyn Inheritance. It is about Henry VIII and his 4th marriage to Anne of Cleves, and how he decides once again to ditch her and marry Katherine Howard, who coincidentally is Anne Boleyn's cousin. Anyway, So while reading all this, I've become practically obsessed with Henry VIII and his ruling and his time period. I've been to Hampton Court, which is the Palace he created for Anne Boleyn, may she RIP.

Maybe I'm just a big dork, but I've become enthralled with Henry the VIII. I'm absolutely dying to see The Other Boleyn Girl. I might even go today...

There is even a TV show called the Tudors that is about Henry the VIII. I think that I may not be the only one who has been captured by this unique time period and the last of the Tudor dynasty. But I may be the ONLY one who goes on Wikipedia to do more research about it....Okay so I'm really bored.

Freshman Friends...

L to R: Jimmy, Jason, Me, Tyler and Roman in the front.

One day I get a call from this random number, and I'm was a little hesitant about answering it. Luckily I did. It was my friend Jason, who I met my FRESHMAN year of college. It was so bizarre. It has been so fun to get together with all these old friends. Just last weekend I went to Jason's birthday party and this picture was taken. Definitely fun to reunite with these old chums.. Parkway Crossing friends. They are neat...

Making the Trek...Again

This is what my car looks like. Packed FULL

I'm very excited to be going home today. I'm not excited about the drive. It is long and boring and it is not much fun by yourself. However I've complied a bunch of old songs, that I can sing really loud to, so I won't be bored. I got this idea from my roommate Cami. She happened to mention this yesterday, so I thought I'd try it out. We'll see how it goes.

Does the media affect our society, or does our society affect the media?

Airbrushing...Yay or nay?

So today in my class we discussed body image and how the media affects our society.  We discussed things like airbrushing and etc... But as we were discussing it, I realized that I airbrush.  Just about everything.  One of my favorite things to do when I get pictures from anyone, whether it be from Matt, or my friends, but I go straight for the retouch button.  Now, let me clarify, I don't "airbrush" I retouch.  I take out the red eye, take away wrinkles, fine lines, and even a blemish or two, or three or however many the person has.  It is an addiction.  But I don't see a problem with it.  Everyone wants to look at a picture and not see that nasty red eye, or the huge white head someone needs to pop.  I look at the retouching as perfecting someone to make their confidence soar.
With that in mind, isn't that what the director of photo-shoots says too?  Let's take away that fine line, or her jeans are cutting into her side, let's just correct that with a little swipe of the mouse.  I mean which picture would rather look at?

The Beach House...

This isn't quite our beach house, but this is just a feel of what our house is going to be like

It's almost over... then the Fun begins

So finals are rapidly approaching and I've been anxiously awaiting for this semester to be over with.  I don't understand Winter/Spring semester at all.  I get to antsy during this semester.  I hate it.  I just want Summer to be here.  It is ridiculous.
Well after the semester is over, we'll, and by we'll I mean Jann, Cami, Emily, Katelin, Jamie, and myself will be moving into are new house.  The "beach house".  It is right by memorial park in Provo.  800 E. 150 N.  The neat thing about our house is we get to do whatever we want to it.  We get to paint and decorate it however we choose.  It is going to be so much fun.  I can't wait.
The only downfall this summer is that I have to attend some school.  I don't actually have to be at UVSC or soon to be UVU, but I get to do an internship, which Darin has been kind enough to supply me with one.  I'll be in charge of all the marketing and advertising for Jimmy Johns in Midvale (913 E. Fort Union Blvd).  It will be very fun.  I get to do it with my friend Lindsey Maxfield, so I'll have someone to keep me company while I go drive around Midvale all day and get people to come experience the addiction that is known as Jimmy Johns.
