i know that clothing/fashion isn't necessarily a big deal to some people,
but to me, IT IS.
but there is something about looking a people whose lives are involved immensely in the line of fashion
and i envy it
now, don't get me wrong, every thing revolves around clothing.
whether you like to admit it or not, fashion isn't something that we can't hide from.
no matter how hard you try, it consumes you...
don't get what i'm trying to say, then
take for instance this line from the movie,
''the devil wears prada''
andy sachs: No, no, nothing. Y'know, it's just that both those belts look exactly the same to me. Y'know, I'm still learning about all this stuff.
miranda priestly: This... 'stuff'? Oh... ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar De La Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of 8 different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic casual corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of stuff.
despite what anyone says, if they absolutely HATE fashion
it is just like 'miranda priestly' said, that even if you don't care what you wear
you are still wearing something that some designer has made a trend,
and that the editor-in-chief of vogue has said it is OKAY to wear, then by the time is gets to us,
it has filtered down into some place where you or i like to shop.
i just don't get how someone can say it is unimportant.
you get dressed in the morning right?
you care how you look, right?
(if you don't, you should).
you want to feel pretty, sexy, carefree
and make it look like you just threw something one without even trying?
then if you feel all those things, you care about fashion.
so, sorry about my rant.
it may not even make sense, but i hope that someone catches the gist.
THE END...?
I like it... it makes perfect sense to me. Kinda makes me wish that I had more style like you...here in Hawaii i feel like all my attempts at being fashionable have vanished. Seriously, I dont know what shoes are anymore. I just wear the same old slippers everyday, sad I know. Maybe when i move back to the mainland you can come shopping with me and help me out!YES!!! :)
ReplyDeletemissy you make me laugh! I am def. in need of some of your fashion sense! Love that you are this into it.
